The programme began with an online introduction to Moodle, the learning platform students will use throughout their studies. On 1 October, first-year students attended the opening ceremony of the 2026–2027 academic year, followed by an informal gathering with the Student Union.
On 2 October, invited guests helped students discover more about life in Vilnius. Representatives of JUDU introduced the city’s public transport system, while Go Vilnius shared useful information and opportunities for newcomers to the capital. Representatives of the 112 emergency service explained when to seek emergency assistance and how to report an incident.
These meetings helped students feel more confident in their new surroundings, navigate everyday situations and understand where to turn for help.
University support was another key part of the programme. During meetings with the Department for Student Service and International Mobility and the Academic Support Centre, students learned about the services available to them and where to seek advice on their studies and student life.
Meetings with representatives of academic departments and study programmes introduced students to EHU’s academic community. Conversations with senior students and shared activities helped newcomers get to know one another and feel part of the university community.
The programme concluded on 5 October with a lecture by Dr Liliana Tymchenko, “I Have Rights. But Who Is Responsible for Upholding Them?”
We thank our colleagues, guest speakers and students who contributed to the orientation programme and helped first-year students settle into their new environment.
Welcome to EHU! We wish our new students inspiring classes, bold ideas and lasting friendships!
