EHU Welcomes U.S. Delegation Ahead of Business Law Clinic Launch — Vilnius, Lithuania, September 9–11, 2026
On September 9–11, the Academic Department of Social Sciences hosted an expert delegation from the U.S., organised within the framework of EHU’s Business Law Clinic initiative. The three-day working visit was carried out in cooperation with the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) of the U.S. Department of Commerce.
The visit focused on launching EHU’s Business Law Clinic, a project that has been under development since 2024. The U.S. delegation included Levi Latoz (International Program Specialist at the U.S. Department of Commerce), Carlos Teuscher (Associate Clinical Professor at Boston College Law School), Darryl Walton (Clinical Professor and Director of the Community Business Clinic at Northeastern University School of Law), and Patricia Alejandro (Director of the Transactional Skills Program at the University of Miami School of Law). The experts met with Associate Professor Dr. Ingrida Danėlė-Žalimienė (Head of the Academic Department of Social Sciences), Katsiaryna Radzko (Acting Head of the EHU branch of the BEROC-IPM School of Economics and Business), and representatives of EHU’s law programmes, along with administrative and academic staff and students.
The working sessions addressed the clinic’s structure, operating model, partnerships, and implementation, with a full launch planned for spring 2027. The Business Law Clinic will give EHU law students the opportunity to gain practical experience alongside their academic studies, including client interviewing and communication, contract drafting and legal research, negotiation and advocacy, professional ethics and decision-making, and work on real-world legal matters.
The clinic will initially follow a project-based model focused on cooperation with community and advocacy organisations, enabling students to apply their legal knowledge in practice while supporting the work of partner organisations. In the long term, it is expected to develop into a platform providing direct legal assistance to people and communities in need.
The initiative marks an important step toward strengthening practical legal education at EHU, building partnerships with international legal education institutions, and creating opportunities for students to contribute their legal knowledge to society.
