European Humanities University Rector dr. Vilius Šadauskas met with Thomas Muehlmann, Director of the Eastern Neighbourhood Policy Department at the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs  at the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs responsible for Eastern European affairs to discuss the current developments affecting the University, its community, and the broader environment in which EHU operates.

During the meeting, the Rector presented the University’s current priorities, ongoing efforts to support students, faculty, and staff, and the measures being implemented to ensure the continuity of studies, research, and other core University activities. The discussion also addressed the importance of maintaining a stable and supportive academic environment for the EHU community. 

The Rector emphasized that the University remains fully committed to supporting its community while acting responsibly and in close coordination with its partners and the relevant authorities. He noted that some aspects of the University’s response require careful coordination in order to ensure the safety and wellbeing of community members. 

The discussion also focused on the ongoing admission campaign and the broader challenges affecting the higher education environment in which EHU operates. The Rector outlined the University’s efforts to ensure that prospective students continue to have access to high-quality education based on European academic values. 

During the meeting, Muehlmann expressed appreciation for EHU’s continued commitment to academic freedom, democratic values and support for its community. He noted that the University’s work continues to receive considerable international attention, reflecting the importance of its mission, and reaffirmed Austria’s readiness to support initiatives that strengthen higher education, academic cooperation and civil society wherever possible.
