Frequently Asked Questions

Сan I apply without nomination?

For an Erasmus+ or bilateral exchange, your home university must nominate you under an applicable agreement with EHU. Ask its international office to contact us.

Does nomination mean I have been accepted?

No. EHU must approve your documents and proposed study programme before issuing your Letter of Acceptance.

What if I cannot meet the application deadline?

Ask your home coordinator to contact international@ehu.lt promptly. Any extension must be agreed individually.

Which English level do I need?

At least B2 for English-taught courses. Provide evidence from your home university or an internationally recognised qualification. See Academic Information.

Can I take courses in Russian or Belarusian?

Check the language in the course catalogue and ask EHU about the required evidence. Choose courses in a language you can use for study and assessment.

Can I choose courses from different programmes or take a masters course?

You may request courses from different programmes and academic levels. Admission depends on prerequisites, availability and approval by EHU and your home university. Confirm recognition before finalising your selection.

What if my university cannot use a digital Learning Agreement?

Contact the Mobility Unit to agree on an alternative format and tell us about your home university’s approval deadline.

My digital Learning Agreement was sent but EHU cannot see it

Ask your home coordinator to check that it has been released or submitted to EHU through the applicable system. Tell EHU when and how it was sent.

Can I move into accommodation before orientation?

Only if the accommodation team confirms availability from your arrival date. You may need temporary accommodation for earlier nights.

Will a buddy meet me at the airport or station?

Discuss arrival assistance with your buddy in advance; pickup is not automatic. If you requested a buddy but have no contact details, email the Mobility Unit.

I have not received my EHU account activation message

Check your application email and spam folder. If the message is missing, email the Mobility Unit with your full name and application email address.

How do I change a course?

Check the replacement’s availability, ECTS and recognition, update your Learning Agreement and obtain all required approvals by the deadline communicated by EHU. Follow the steps in After Arrival and During Your Stay.

What if my arrival is delayed?

Inform EHU, your home university and your accommodation contact immediately. Provide your expected arrival date and ask about missed registration or orientation.

Can I postpone my exchange?

Inform both universities promptly. Your home university should arrange a new nomination for the new semester, and updated documents and accommodation must be agreed.

Can I extend my exchange?

Contact both universities at least two months before the end of your first semester at EHU. Confirm approval, courses, funding, accommodation, residence documents and insurance before making plans.

Who can help with immigration and insurance questions?

The Mobility Unit helps with university documents and practical guidance. Immigration authorities decide entry and residence matters; your insurer confirms policy coverage.

How do I request additional support?

Contact EHU about practical adjustments and the grant-administering institution about Erasmus+ funding. Ask early about eligibility, evidence and the application procedure.

How do I submit a complaint?

Follow the applicable procedure under Ethics or Diversity and Equal Opportunities, including its deadline. Ask the Mobility Unit for the right contact if uncertain.

When will I receive my Transcript of Records?

After your results have been finalised. Confirm the receiving email before departure and contact EHU if the transcript has not arrived when expected. See Before Departure and Recognition.

What must I do before leaving?

Complete assessments, arrange your Confirmation of Stay, retain the final Learning Agreement, confirm transcript delivery, complete accommodation checkout and return borrowed items. Complete feedback and applicable grant reporting. See the departure checklist.
