We invite interested candidates to submit their CV, list of publications, and a concept note presenting the proposed research project they intend to develop and implement at EHU.
Eligible Applicants
- The MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships are open to outstanding researchers of any nationality and from all fields of research and technological development. The programme supports excellent postdoctoral researchers seeking to advance their careers through international mobility, interdisciplinary collaboration, and high-level research training.
- Applicants must comply with the MSCA mobility rule: at the call deadline, researchers must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the host institution for more than 12 months during the 36 months immediately preceding the call deadline. For Global Postdoctoral Fellowships (GPF), this rule applies to the country of the host organisation for the outgoing phase.
- At the call deadline, applicants must hold a doctoral degree. Researchers who have successfully defended their doctoral thesis without any outstanding requirements or corrections, but who have not yet formally received the degree certificate, are also eligible to apply.
- Applicants must have a maximum of 8 years of full-time equivalent research experience measured from the date of award of the doctoral degree to the call deadline. In line with MSCA rules, periods of career breaks and specific circumstances — including parental leave, compulsory national service, long-term sick leave, non-research work, or research activity conducted outside Europe by reintegrating researchers — will not be counted towards this limit.
- While not constituting a formal eligibility criterion, a strong academic track record, including high-quality publications, research achievements, and international experience, substantially strengthens the competitiveness of an application. Applicants should also note that proposals receiving a score below 80% cannot be resubmitted in the following MSCA PF call with the same recruiting organisation (and, in the case of Global Fellowships, the same outgoing host institution).
Please note that aligning the proposed research project with EHU’s academic and research profile is an important element of the application process. Applicants are therefore strongly encouraged to clearly demonstrate how their research background, expertise, and proposed project are connected to EHU’s thematic research areas. EHU’s core thematic areas include
- Theatre
- History
- Art History
- Humanities
- Communication and Information
- Design
- Media Arts
- Politics
- Law
- Sociology
- Information Technologies (IT).
MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships provide a competitive funding package covering the researcher’s living and mobility costs, as well as additional support for family-related expenses (where applicable), research activities, training, and networking. The grant also includes a contribution towards the host institution’s management and indirect costs.
The fellowship funding is calculated on a monthly basis and adjusted through a country correction coefficient reflecting the cost of living in the host country. For Lithuania, the applicable correction coefficient results in an estimated living allowance of approximately 5 702.30 Eur per month before taxes.
Researchers supported under the programme are employed by the host institution under a full-time employment contract. Subject to agreement with the supervisor and host institution, and with approval from the granting authority, the fellowship may also be implemented on a part-time basis (minimum 50% FTE) under exceptional circumstances.
During the implementation period, the researcher’s total professional workload may not exceed 100% FTE. Fellows are expected to carry out their research activities primarily at the premises of the host institution, teleworking from abroad is not permitted under the programme rules.
