EHU’s Academic Social Sciences Department Joins the European Law Faculties Association

The Academic Social Sciences Department (ADSS) of the European Humanities University (EHU) has officially joined the European Law Faculties Association (ELFA), an academic network founded in 1995 that brings together more than 150 law faculties across 49 countries on four continents.

From 15–17 April, an EHU delegation led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ingrida Danėlė-Žalimienė, Head of ADSS, participated in the ELFA Annual Conference and General Assembly hosted by the Faculty of Law at the University of Deusto in Bilbao, Spain. This year’s conference focused on artificial intelligence and legal education, examining how AI is reshaping legal training and the legal profession. The keynote address, delivered by Ricardo Devis, founder of AI Bilbao, was titled “Are We Asking the Right Questions? Rethinking Legal Education in the Age of AI: A Framework for Foundational Inquiry.” Discussions covered topics such as AI in legal learning, opportunities and risks of AI in law schools, and practical experiences with AI in legal education, among others. These insights will now be further developed and integrated into EHU’s academic activities.

The General Assembly welcomed ADSS as one of its new full members, granting it the full rights, honours, and privileges associated with this status. The Assembly also included the presentation and approval of the ELFA President’s Report 2025–2026, the financial report and 2026 budget, the introduction of new members, Board elections, and the adoption of the 2026 ELFA Resolution, which focused on the use of AI in legal education.
