EHU Strengthens Internationalization: Priority Areas Discussed in Meeting with Ministries

On April 2, 2026, a meeting took place at the European Humanities University (EHU) to discuss the guidelines for long-term cooperation between the University, the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as opportunities to strengthen the attraction of international students.

The meeting was attended by EHU Rector Dr. Vilius Ĺ adauskas, Vice-Minister of Education, Science and Sport Regina ValutytÄ—, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Audra PlepytÄ—, and representatives of both ministries. The discussions focused extensively on enhancing the internationalization of higher education, increasing accessibility to studies, and positioning EHU as an attractive study destination in the international arena.

When addressing prospects for attracting international students, participants emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts between universities and public institutions. It was noted that, in order to enhance the competitiveness of EHU’s higher education, it is essential to consistently strengthen international partnerships, ensure high academic quality, and create favorable conditions for student integration in Lithuania.

During the meeting, EHU presented the direction of its ongoing reforms and outlined key strategic objectives for the near future. The primary goal of these reforms is to modernize the curriculum, strengthen academic quality, and better respond to the evolving needs of students and the labor market.

One of the University’s key priorities is attracting highly qualified faculty. It was emphasized that a strong academic community is essential to ensuring the quality of studies, advancing research activities, and increasing the University’s international appeal.

The discussions also highlighted the University’s ambition to strengthen its position within Lithuania’s higher education system and to become competitive in the national university landscape.

Participants of the meeting stressed that continuous dialogue and partnership between the academic community and state institutions are essential for ensuring sustainable growth of the higher education system, increasing international visibility, and strengthening Lithuania’s long-term competitiveness as a destination for studies.
