EHU Strengthens International Ties: Delegations from Lithuania and Ireland Visited the University

European Humanities University (EHU) hosted an official meeting between the Rector of EHU Dr. Vilius Šadauskas and the Delegations from Lithuania and Ireland.

 

On February 9, a delegation of high-level representatives from Ireland and Lithuania visited the European Humanities University to discuss the university’s transformation, academic priorities, and international partnerships.

The Irish delegation included Mrs. Séadhna MacHugh, Ambassador of Ireland at Embassy of Ireland, Mr. Michael Gaffey, the Director General of the Development Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ireland, Mr Breandán Ó Corráin (Deputy Director, Multilateral – EU Unit, Development Cooperation and Africa Division), Mr. Shane Sweeney, Deputy Head of Mission Ireland embassy in Lithuania.

The Lithuanian side was represented by the Director of the Development Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Ms. Aiste Bertulyte-Žikevičienė; the Deputy Director of the Department, Ms. Egle Bloznelienė; and the Senior Advisor of the Development Cooperation and Democracy Support Section, Ms. Virginia Umbrasienė. The representative of CPMA – Jurgita Šiugždinienė, Expert of the International Development Cooperation. During the meeting, university representatives presented an overview of EHU’s transformation in recent years, highlighting key changes in its academic structure, governance, and strategic development. Particular attention was paid to student support, including academic support, scholarship programs, international opportunities, and an inclusive educational environment.

A separate section of the discussion was devoted to the university’s current educational programs and its academic goals. The Rector of EHU Dr. Vilius Šadauskas emphasized the university’s commitment to further strengthening its research component, developing interdisciplinary initiatives, and expanding cooperation with international partners.

The guests also expressed interest in the university’s connections with local and international universities, as well as its role in the regional and pan-European educational space. During the dialogue, the importance of sustainable international partnerships, academic mobility, and joint projects in the development and support of democratic processes was emphasized.

The visit confirmed EHU’s importance as an active participant in the international academic community and a platform for dialogue between educational, governmental, and international institutions.
