GHEA21 Invites Proposals for Online and Network Collaborative Courses for 2026-2027

This fall, GHEA21 invites you to take part in shaping the shared international curriculum by submitting proposals for Online Courses (OCs) and Network Collaborative Courses (NCCs). This initiative offers the opportunity to engage with colleagues and students across more than 25 institutions, enriching your course with an international perspective.

Online Courses (OCs) are offered by a single institution to students from multiple partner institutions. They take place entirely online and include students from the host institution. Students register through a centralized application portal and are then enrolled at the institution that offers the course and receive course credit transferred from that institution. (Staff at participating institutions are eligible to register for Online Courses, subject to their home institution’s approval.)

Network Collaborative Courses (NCCs) are co-created by faculty across partner institutions and are taught in collaboration at two or more partner campuses. These courses expose students to diverse perspectives through a wide range of cross-network readings, assignments and activities. NCCs may entail longer (full-semester) or shorter, more modular (4-6 weeks) cross-network collaboration. (All lead faculty and co-faculty involved with planning proposed Network Collaborative Courses must be registered in the Network Portal by the time of the proposal submission.)

Particular priority will be given to proposals that support the GHEA21 Academic Certificates, a set of thematic programs, which provide students with structured pathways of study and credentials of lasting value. By aligning your teaching with one of these certificates, you not only broaden the reach of your course and connect with colleagues across disciplines, but also enable your students to situate their learning within a recognized academic framework that can strengthen their future opportunities.

Priority Themes for Course Proposals:

  • Civic Engagement
  • Human Rights
  • Democracy
  • Global Humanities
  • Global Studies
  • Sustainability and Climate Solutions
  • Technology and Society

To assist colleagues in preparing proposals, GHEA21 will host two Information Sessions, which will outline the certificates in more detail, explain the proposal process, and provide an opportunity to address any questions:

📅 Wednesday, September 17 | 8–9 AM EDT / 2–3 PM Vienna

📅 Thursday, September 25 | 8–9 AM EDT / 2–3 PM Vienna

You can register here to attend the information sessions.
