Once vibrant and modern, built to house the workers of one of the most powerful nuclear power plants in the former USSR, the Lithuanian town of Visaginas has found itself in the midst of an existential crisis. In August 2019, 4CITIES Master’s student Job Zomerplaag (Cohort 11) traveled to the North-Eastern edge of the European Union to participate in a 10-day summer school on the topic of post-nuclear urbanism. Reflecting on his experiences in Lithuania, Job shares his observations and insights from a town that is undergoing a process of reinventing its purpose and identity.

On December 1–3, the European Humanities University will host the first stage of the theatre laboratory “Where Home Begins.” This research-based artistic program explores the phenomenon of the “homelessness” of the new European individual — a theme that frequently appears today in the humanities, contemporary theatre, and public discourse.

The Department of Humanities and Arts at the European Humanities University (EHU) is pleased to announce the launch of the Visual Design Bachelor’s program in English. Starting in the 2025/2026 academic year, a dedicated English-language cohort will be formed. This expansion of the program opens new opportunities for prospective students from different countries and further strengthens the university’s international academic environment.

The AI Aware Universities project is organized by the Center for Information, Democracy, and Citizenship (CIDC) at the American University in Bulgaria and funded by People Powered in collaboration with five European Universities: LCC University, Bard College Berlin, European Humanities University, BISLA, Central European University, to work together on addressing the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence on universities and education.
