Once vibrant and modern, built to house the workers of one of the most powerful nuclear power plants in the former USSR, the Lithuanian town of Visaginas has found itself in the midst of an existential crisis. In August 2019, 4CITIES Master’s student Job Zomerplaag (Cohort 11) traveled to the North-Eastern edge of the European Union to participate in a 10-day summer school on the topic of post-nuclear urbanism. The AI Aware Universities project is organized by the Center for Information, Democracy, and Citizenship (CIDC) at the American University in Bulgaria and funded by People Powered in collaboration with five European Universities: LCC University, Bard College Berlin, European Humanities University, BISLA, Central European University, to work together on addressing the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence on universities and education.
